Every one of us, at least once in our lives, has said or done something we wish we hadn’t. We all know, though, that living with unresolved guilt and shame is not part of His plan for us. In making this movie, we strove to tell an authentic human story about one man’s painful, self-made fall from grace and how God finds him again.

As big fans of transformation stories, we used the sport of wrestling to represent the internal struggle between My way vs God’s way. Bringing John Wright from his dark isolation to the realization of his potential to serve others was truly gratifying as storytellers. John’s road to redemption is anything but smooth. It is honest, harrowing and even messy at times– but ultimately triumphant. As he tells Michael in the locker room, “Life can be a tough opponent for sure. Sometimes it’ll beat you down. But letting it break you – that’s a choice.”

We hope you find inspiration in John’s path to restoration, faith and forgiveness. We loved every step in the making of this movie and we thank God every day for the gift of working and creating together. Our prayer as filmmakers is that if The Last Champion changes even just one person’s life and brings them the “peace that surpasses all understanding”, we will have achieved our purpose.
